Hello friends, both old and new! This is my new blog, and I'll be posting here semi-regularly about a number of topics. mostly about my artwork and how it relates to my practices. For the inception of my new blog, I figured I'd answer a few frequently asked questions.
Q: "How big are your prints?"
A: My prints are all printed on 8.5" x 11" fine parchment and signed by me.
Q: "Do you ship internationally?"
A: Unfortunately, being in the beginning stages of my shop, I haven't yet worked out an international shipping solution, but as soon as I do, I will let everyone know here.
Q: "Why do you only do dark artwork? don't you think there needs to be a balance?"
A: This is a very good question, and I would argue that my work, as well as my path is balanced. This being said, not all balances are equal. I am more naturally drawn to the darker aspects of nature and the spiritual worlds in general. I believe that in that deep, dark place is hidden the most secret, most hated, most vulnerable parts of ourselves. and to become truly "one" with oneself, we must face our demons, befriend our devils, and learn to love the visage in the black mirror. I know my own becoming was influenced by many internal and external issues, and the "Dark" path was instrumental in seeing the beauty in my flaws. I believe that what we need right now is to embrace our shadow, learn to see the beauty in the night, the cadaver, the wilting rose, decay, the winding serpent, the wise spider, and in turn, wield the double edged blade that Nature has dealt us. I'll explore this topic further in a blog post soon.
Q: "Do you take commissions?"
A: I do indeed! my current rates are $30/hr. and most of my detailed pieces take about 4-6 hours. it would be a hand-signed original, and drawn in consecrated ink, as well as fed and awakened in ritual.
Q: "why are your prices so high for a drawing? I could draw it myself or go to another artist for that kind of money."
A: My craft is not just drawing, though. The price is high because I have many invisible mouths to feed, not to mention shipping, rent, supplies for my craft, and I have to eat as well. Artists are people, too. Not machines that crank out masterpieces for pocket change or "exposure". I make many sacrifices to continue to make my pieces and serve my spirits. If you purchase my prints, they are not just drawings. they are living vessels of the spirits and gods they are made to represent.
Q: "Can you Teach me Witchcraft/Drawing/Insert obscure magical tradition here?"
A: I am just in the beginning stages on this path, and it is one that is lives-long. I would not be comfortable claiming any authority on the subject. I have no initiations, I am NOT anyone's teacher. If you are inspired by my writings and craft, then I am grateful, but I am in no way qualified to even claim to teach anything. I am just a seeker on the path, and I wish you luck in finding a qualified teacher. As far as drawing/art goes, look on Youtube, read some how-to books, take some classes, but above all, draw from the heart. even if it's a gnarled looking tree or a stick person, it will have meaning and power as long as you draw it from your heart.
Q: "What inspires your work?"
A: The spirits that guide my hands, they who whisper in my ears, the dead who reside in the rivers of veins that flow through my flesh. The Devil, who is Master and teacher of my sorcery, The Pale folk who dwell in the land beneath my feet, They who cause the leaves to wither, die, and fall by Autumn's cold blade. The Companie of Night, to whom my allegiance is pledged, and many, many others.
